Dorothy Elijah’s Commitment, Discipline, Love For Handball Will ‘Always Be Remembered’ – Ojih

As lamentations continue over the death of national team player, Dorothy Elijah, the president of Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Jibril Saidu Ojih declared that her commitment, discipline and love for the game will ‘always be remembered.’

Sports247 reports that, while expressing deep sorrow over Elijah’s death, Ojih went on to note that she was a talented player who gave many untiring and far-reaching contributions to the growth of handball in Nigeria.

He added that the news of her passing came as a shock to the Nigerian handball family, as he recounted how the late player’s dedication and passion for the sport made her a respected figure among teammates, officials and fans.

The HFN boss also pointed out that Elijah was a key player for Plateau Peacocks in the Nigeria Handball Premier League and represented Plateau State in several national competitions, such that her passing has left a deep void in the country.

Ojih declared, “The Handball Federation of Nigeria received with great sadness the news of the passing of Dorothy Elijah. She was a hardworking and passionate player who contributed immensely to the development of handball.

“On behalf of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, I extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, teammates, officials of Plateau Peacocks, and the Plateau State handball community.

“We pray that God grants her eternal rest and gives her loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Her commitment, discipline, and love for the game will always be remembered.”

HFN’s media assistant, Cosmos Chukwuemeka Akisi stated in a press release that Elijah’s death is a painful loss not only to her family and teammates but also to the entire Nigerian handball community.

Akisi added that Elijah’s passing has left a deep void in the Nigerian handball fraternity, where she was widely admired for her dedication and contributions to development of the sport in the country.

Sports247 gathered further that Elijah died on Tuesday following a brief ailment and she will be buried this Friday.
