Moses Usor has made a strong first impression with the Super Eagles, but his next big career move could depend on more than what he does on the pitch.
The LASK forward announced himself on the international stage last week, coming off the bench to score Nigeria’s winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Madagascar.
The performance has put the 24-year-old in the spotlight, but clubs interested in signing him are likely to look closely at another part of his career, his injury record.
Usor has been an important player for LASK and enjoyed a productive 2024/25 season, finishing with 15 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
His pace, direct running and ability to take on defenders make him an attractive option for clubs looking for a dynamic attacker.
However, his fitness history could make potential buyers more cautious.
Usor suffered a cruciate ligament injury in October 2024 which kept him out for about 265 days and caused him to miss 35 matches. He also suffered a meniscus injury in 2026.
That history means any club considering a major investment in the Nigerian is likely to pay close attention to his medical records before making a decision.
His style of play could also make his fitness an important issue. Usor relies heavily on speed, quick changes of direction and explosive movements when attacking defenders.
But his injury history does not mean a big move is out of reach.
Football has seen several players return from serious knee injuries and go on to secure major transfers. Leroy Sané and Florian Wirtz are among examples of players who overcame serious injuries and later attracted significant interest.
For Usor, the key now is consistency.
If he can stay fit, continue producing goals and assists for LASK and build on his impressive Super Eagles debut, clubs may have fewer reasons to worry about his past injuries.
His goal against Madagascar has already given him a bigger stage. The next challenge is to show that he can stay on it.
