Some of the departing players have already secured fresh opportunities, with Anietie Uko completing a move to Tanzanian side Mbeya Kwanza, while Erikan Francis has joined Heartland FC on loan in a bid to gain more playing time.

In a clear indication of intent, the Promise Keepers have moved quickly to bolster their squad, completing the acquisition of five new players as preparations intensify for the resumption of league action.

With the second phase of the NNL season set to kick off on February 14, 2026, Akwa United are aiming for a stronger and more consistent run, as the management banks on the squad overhaul to ignite an improved push in their quest for better league positioning.
