The performance marked Joseph’s first competitive 400m race of the 2026 season, and it could hardly have gone better.

Her time places her as the fifth-fastest African woman of all time in the indoor 400m, underlining the quality of her breakthrough run.

Joseph dominated the race, finishing ahead of her teammate Javonya Valcourt, who also impressed with 51.73s for second place, making it a strong showing for their training group.

The run continues a flawless start to the year for Joseph, who is now three-for-three in 2026, setting personal bests in every event she has contested so far this season. Her progression across distances has been notable:

200m: 23.11

300m: 36.41

400m: 51.36

With her rapid improvement and consistency across multiple sprint distances, Joseph’s early-season form signals a major leap forward and positions her as one of Africa’s standout quarter-milers heading into the rest of the indoor campaign.

Her latest performance not only strengthens her individual profile but also adds to Africa’s growing presence among the world’s elite indoor sprinters.
