An England-based player of Nigerian descent, Saburi Olayinka Adeniji has been declared ‘brain dead’ by his non-league club, Kings Park Rangers, after he suffered a severe head injury.

Sports247 gathered that Adeniji was rushed to hospital on January 15th, but his condition continued to deteriorate and Kings Park Rangers have now expressed worries that he is very close to dying.
It was gathered further that doctors admitted the severity of his injury, which raised more alarm over survival chances for the player, whose wife and daughter are in Nigeria, but are already being hurried back to the UK.
His family are making the trip in order to see him before life support is withdrawn, as the doctors fear he will die soon, considering that they have already classified him as braindead.
Kings Park Rangers, who are currently coached by former Norwich City star, Jamie Cureton, quickly launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to cover cost of flight tickets for the family and accommodation.
With £7,424 raised within minutes of the fund raise being announced, and closing in on their target of £8,000 before night fall, the Division One North club of the Eastern Counties League posted a thank you message on X.
The club stated late Friday: “Saburi leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter, whom he adored. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was deeply committed to giving his daughter a good education and a better future.
“Beyond the immediate need to reunite his family, this fund will also be used to support his wife financially, as she navigates life after this devastating loss, help secure his daughter’s education and wellbeing back home in Nigeria.
“This is a moment for the football world to come together – players, clubs, team-mates, supporters, and friends. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support during this tragic time.”
