NCS Women Make History With Unbeaten Title Run in 2025 Volleyball Premier League

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) women’s volleyball team have written their names in Nigerian sports history after completing the 2025 Comptroller-General of Customs Volleyball Premier League season without a single defeat.

Speaking in Abuja, Head of Sports, Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, confirmed that the women’s team won all 20 matches across the two phases of the league — a feat he described as unprecedented in Nigerian volleyball.

According to Onikeku, the Customs women dominated both phases of the competition, winning 10 matches in the first phase and another 10 in the final phase to clinch the league title in emphatic fashion.

“This has never happened before in Nigerian volleyball,” Onikeku said. “It is the first time a women’s team has gone through an entire league season unbeaten. We are extremely proud of this historic achievement.”

The dominant run saw the NCS women finish top of the standings with 63 sets won, just five lost, and a perfect 63 points haul, underlining their superiority throughout the campaign.

Onikeku also expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the NCS teams, noting significant progress by the men’s side. The Customs men won all their matches in the second phase of the league, eventually finishing second overall — a remarkable improvement from their sixth-place finish last season.

“We are thrilled that we have made the Comptroller-General of Customs and the entire Nigeria Customs Service proud,” he said. “The improvement in the men’s team shows clear progress and consistency in our sports development programme.”

The men’s team ended the season with 62 sets won, 18 lost, and 57 points.

Onikeku praised the players for their discipline, commitment, and resilience, attributing the historic success to teamwork, focus, and sustained investment in athlete development.

With medals, trophies, and a record-breaking unbeaten season, the Nigeria Customs Service women’s volleyball team have set a new benchmark in Nigerian volleyball, further cementing their status as a dominant force in the domestic game.
