She added that their ability to whitewash Ghana at the 1st West African Para-Games in Abeokuta was additional proof of the wide gap that has expanded between Nigeria and other African countries.

The very eloquent player recounted, “It has been so exciting, and I am happy that we won my first game for Nigeria. We won it 9-0 against Ghana.

“I’ve been playing wheelchair basketball since 2019, but this is my first time playing for the national team. I’ve been playing for Lagos State in domestic competitions, but I’m now happy to be in the national team.”

While acknowledging the strides and gains she has achieved with the other sporting events she is involved with, Ejigbamide insisted that wheelchair basketball is her first love.

The amiable lady declared, “I also play sitting volleyball as well as power rowing and canoeing. I even travelled to Italy and Tunisia with the power rowing team, but wheelchair basketball has always been my first love. I will always pick it over any other sport.”

She then expressed her admiration for the level of competition and high quality of organisation seen at the 1st West Africa Para-Games in Abeokuta, which she said became a hub for citizens of many other countries during the duration of the competition.

“I’m so glad that the organising committee put this competition together for other African countries to come together. It gave us something exciting yo look up to.

“It’s a great one, and I commend them for a job well done. It’s been so good competing here, but my greatest target is to get to the Paralympics.

“This is just the stepping stone to get there, and I strongly believe that I will grtvther,” Ejigbemide concluded.
