SIDAB Football Academy Want To Retain Christ Embassy Cup, ‘Scala’ Speaks

A youth development team with its training base at Lagos National Stadium, SIDAB Football Academy has set plans in motion to ensure its players retain their status as champions of Christ Emabassy Cup.

Although Coach Adesina, who has also previously handled top clubs like Eko Hotel FC and NITEL United of Lagos as well as Concord of Abeokuta, does not have a sponsor, he told Sports247 in an exclusive chat that he has been able to make ends meet through his personal efforts and support from his son, Jide Peters.

The amiable coach, who was once in charge of training football talents at Jubilee Secondary School in Coker-Orile area of Lagos, which produced former Super Eagles’ striker, Obafemi Martins, is also an executive committee member of Association of Private Football Academy Owners of Nigeria (APFAN), who are also preparing to stage an age-grade competition.

The veteran coach disclosed: “I want to contribute my own quota towards developing young players. I also want all qualified coaches to invest in football academies as a way of guaranteeing the future of football in Nigeria.

“For now, I’m preparing my academy for this year’s APFAN Cup and a youth tournament sponsored by Christ Embassy, of which we are the current champion. We also want to participate in Surulere Gold Cup, among others.”

‘Coach Scala’ concluded with an appeal to groups, agencies, ex-players, corporate bodies and individuals to rally round in support of his efforts by helping him with sponsorship of his projects.

He revealed, “I’m working hard, looking around and praying to get a corporate sponsor for my academy. We need a lot of money for us to particpate in tournaments.

“It’s sponsors and more competitions that will help to motivate young and promising talents in Nigeria. It’s also through such efforts that we can discover kids that will revive the fortunes of Nigeria in age group competitions.”
