Former Super Eagles international and current team manager, Patrick Pascal, has urged total focus and determination from Nigeria’s national team as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup playoff showdown against Gabon next month in Morocco.
Pascal, who has been deeply involved with the Super Eagles for several years, said the upcoming World Cup qualifiers represent a defining moment for both the country and several senior players who may be approaching the end of their international careers.

“This FIFA World Cup playoff is more than just another game — it’s about national pride,” Pascal told reporters. “Many of these players know this could be their final chance to play on the world stage.
They must give everything, not just for themselves, but for the millions of Nigerians who believe in them.”
The Super Eagles secured their playoff ticket after an emphatic 4–0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo, a result that reignited hope following an inconsistent qualification campaign.
Pascal praised the team’s renewed unity and tactical improvement under coach Eric Chelle, but he warned that Gabon remains a dangerous opponent with speed, physicality, and strong organization.
He added that the technical crew is focused on fine-tuning tactical discipline and mental sharpness — two areas he said could make the difference in knockout football. “Playoffs are about details — concentration, courage, and teamwork. Every mistake counts double,” he said.
According to Pascal, morale in the camp is high, with senior figures such as William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Osimhen providing leadership and belief.
“The FIFA World Cup is the dream of every footballer,” Pascal concluded. “The Super Eagles must remain focused, disciplined, and united. If they play with heart and commitment, qualification is within reach.”
