The victory confirms Egypt’s fourth FIFA World Cup qualification, adding to their appearances in 1934, 1990, and 2018.
In Group I, Ghana cruised to a 5–0 win over the Central African Republic in El Jadida.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The result leaves the Black Stars three points clear of Madagascar, who edged Comoros 2–1 in Abidjan.
With a superior goal difference (+16 to +8), only a shock home loss to Comoros on Sunday could deny Ghana a ticket to North America 2026.
Elsewhere, Mali defeated Chad 2–0 in N’Djamena, while Burkina Faso boosted their qualification hopes with a narrow 1–0 win over Sierra Leone in Paynesville.
Niger climbed to second place in Group E after a 3–1 victory over Congo in Ouagadougou, capitalizing on Zambia’s 1–0 win away to Tanzania.
In Group D, Cape Verde fought back from 3–1 down to draw 3–3 with Libya in Tripoli, thanks to late goals from Sidny Cabral and Willy Semedo.
The Blue Sharks remain top of the group, two points ahead of Cameroon, who defeated Mauritius 2–0 with strikes from Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu and Bryan Mbeumo.
Elsewhere, Angola came from two goals down to draw 2–2 with Eswatini, while Ethiopia edged Guinea-Bissau 1–0 through a first-half header from Ramkel James.
