Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has revealed the emotional challenges she has faced since joining English Women’s Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion from Paris FC.
In a candid interview, the 23-year-old admitted that while fans see her as confident and commanding on the pitch, life off it has been emotionally demanding. “People see me smiling, making saves, and think everything is perfect. But sometimes I cry. I miss my family so much,” she said.

Nnadozie explained that the transition to a new country has not been easy. “England is different — the weather, the food, even the routine. It took time to adjust,” she revealed.
Despite the loneliness, the Super Falcons shot-stopper credited her new teammates and coaching staff for helping her settle. “They’ve been amazing. The girls check on me constantly, and the coaches are always encouraging. That support means a lot,” she said.
The goalkeeper, widely regarded as one of the best in Africa, said the experience is making her stronger. “Every challenge teaches me something. I’m learning to be tougher mentally. Football is not just physical — it’s emotional too.”
Nnadozie also thanked Nigerian fans for their continuous support. “Their messages lift my spirit. I want to keep making them proud,” she added.
With her humility and resilience, Nnadozie is fast becoming a role model for young African players dreaming of playing abroad — proving that success often comes with unseen struggles behind the smiles.
