Heading into the match at Estadio Fiscal de Talca, Bameyi admitted that losing to Norway was a disappointment, then appealed to all Nigerians to keep supporting the team with prayers.
Bameyi retorted with supplications, “All I can say is sorry to our fans, brothers, well-wishers and sisters. Please, keep supporting us, and please pray for us.”
He went on to confess that playing at the FIFA U20 World Cup is a tough endeavour, with each of the competing teams all turning up as potential champions, hence his appeal for prayers from Nigerians.
“We are playing at the World Cup, and everyone knows how difficult it is. No country here is small. In football, anything can happen.
“So, we are asking that they should continue praying for us and continue to support the team. We will give our best to make the country proud,” Bameyi pledged.
