The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to throw their weight behind the Super Eagles as the team prepares for two decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
With the Eagles currently in a difficult position in their qualifying group, Adeboye stressed that collective belief, encouragement, and national unity are vital ingredients the players need to succeed.

“This is not the time for doubt but for unshakable belief,” Adeboye said. “The Super Eagles carry the spirit of over 200 million Nigerians. If we give them our prayers, support, and positive energy, I am confident they will rise to the occasion.”
The Eagles face Rwanda in Uyo this Saturday before traveling to Bloemfontein to meet South Africa on Tuesday, matches Adeboye described as “make-or-break encounters that require both technical discipline and the Nigerian spirit of resilience.”
He urged fans to fill the stadium in Uyo, stand firmly behind the team on social media, and never lose sight of what qualification means for Nigeria’s pride and global image.
“When we believe in our boys, they play with an extra man on the pitch,” Adeboye added. “The government is committed, the coaches are ready, and the players are motivated. What they need now is a united Nigeria behind them.”
The SSA concluded by reminding the nation that Nigeria’s football history is filled with legendary comebacks and triumphs against the odds, and urged citizens to “keep faith because the World Cup dream is still alive.”
