Nigeria’s D’Tigress, alongside Mali, Senegal, and South Sudan, have booked their places in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments after reaching the semifinals of the ongoing 2025 Women’s AfroBasket.
Despite finishing as group winners, Uganda and Côte d’Ivoire fell short in the quarterfinals, missing out on qualification.

Group C runners-up Senegal and Group B’s last-place finishers South Sudan, however, managed to advance to the qualifying stage.
The four African representatives will join 20 other national teams in the qualifiers scheduled for March 2026.
The qualifiers will consist of four tournaments, each hosting six teams, from which 16 teams will ultimately secure berths to the Women’s World Cup in Germany.
From the Americas, Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Colombia have qualified for the tournaments. Asia and Oceania will be represented by Japan, China, Korea, the Philippines, New Zealand, and Australia.
European teams include World Cup hosts Germany, along with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, and Turkey.
The 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is set to showcase the top women’s teams globally, with African powerhouses looking to make a significant impact on the world stage.
