Ezechukwu Returns to Track After WAEC Break, Set to Battle Nwankwo in Sprint Events

After nearly three months away from competitive action due to her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), rising sprint sensation Miracle Ezechukwu is set to make her much-anticipated return to the track.

The teenage athlete missed the 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta but is now back in contention and looking to reassert her dominance in the sprint events.

Ezechukwu had started the season on a strong note, clocking a Season’s Best (SB) of 11.89s in March. She remains one of Nigeria’s brightest sprint prospects, with a Personal Best (PB) of 11.64s, which she set last October in Abuja.

Now, she faces stiff competition from her teammate Rosemary Nwankwo, who represented the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA) at the NSF. Nwankwo impressed in Abeokuta, running a new PB of 11.80s in the women’s 100m and marking herself as a serious medal contender.

With both athletes entered in the 100m and 200m events, fans and coaches alike are eager to see the outcome of this friendly rivalry. Their performances could shape the future of Nigerian women’s sprinting, as the country continues to scout for breakout talents ahead of international competitions.

As Ezechukwu returns to the spotlight and Nwankwo rides on her recent momentum, all eyes will be on the track when these two young sprinters go head-to-head.
