Nigerian sprint sensation Adetutu Aladeloye is on the cusp of greatness at the ongoing NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, following a commanding performance in the women’s 100m and 200m events on Friday.
The promising athlete clocked a blistering 11.38s (3.2 m/s) in her 100m heat, making her the second-fastest qualifier into the final. She finished just behind Maimuna Jallow, who topped the qualification chart with 11.29s in heat one.

With such a strong showing, Adetutu Aladeloye has placed herself firmly among the favourites for the gold medal in the 100m showdown.
In the 200m event, the Nigerian sprinter showed resilience and determination, securing the last available spot in the final after clocking a season’s best of 23.89s (0.4 m/s).
Her qualification was based on a tie, but it was enough to ensure her double sprint participation in the championship finals—a remarkable achievement at this level.
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian and teammate Ruth Agadama also gave a commendable account of herself. She won her 100m heat (Heat 5) with 11.67s (1.8 m/s) but narrowly missed out on qualification for the final, highlighting the intense level of competition on the track. Agadama also competed in the 200m, where she posted a time of 24.39s, but it wasn’t sufficient to advance.
With Aladeloye flying the Nigerian flag high in both sprint finals, all eyes will be on her as she aims to convert her promising form into podium finishes. The NJCAA stage may well be the launchpad for her journey to global stardom.
