The Katsina State Governor, Malam Umar Dikko Radda, has pledged to sustain his administration’s partnership with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in its efforts to promote and develop football in Katsina State.
Governor Radda also pledged to complete all unfinished work at the Umaru Dikko Radda Stadium as part of his administration’s efforts to continue promoting sports across the state.

The governor made the pledge while receiving a courtesy visit from the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, alongside NFF Chairman technical committe also Kano State Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan, and chairmen of football associations from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
According to Governor Radda, promoting sports is an avenue for boosting the state’s economy while also providing young people with opportunities to showcase their talents and develop careers that could take them to the international stage.
He said currently two football players from Katsina State had recently been sent abroad for trials, adding that one of them was an Almajiri who had been given the opportunity to pursue a football career.
The NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, appreciated the efforts of the Katsina State Government for providing the necessary support to promote sports in the state.
He assured the governor that the NFF would continue to collaborate with the Katsina State Government and provide the necessary support to further develop football in the state.
The NFF President was accompanied by members of the NFF board as well as chairmen of football associations from the 36 states and the FCT.
Meanwhile, in the final match of the 2026 Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Soccer Tournament, Ranchers Bees of Kaduna emerged as champions after defeating Kwara United of Ilorin 7–6 on penalties following a 0–0 draw after 90 minutes at the Umar Dikko Stadium of Katsina state.
