D’Hola FA midfielder Chibueze Victor has expressed confidence in his team’s future despite their narrow 1-0 defeat to Authority FA in the U10 semi-final of the FEMMCO 01 International Football Championship August Camping 2026 at Nawarudeen Playing Ground, Olose.
Victor, who played a key role in midfield during the encounter, admitted that D’Hola FA performed well but rued an early defensive lapse that ultimately decided the contest.
“We did well, but the defence line was not able to kick the ball. We will just have to take the result like that,” Victor told SPORTS247 after the match.
Although the defeat ended D’Hola FA’s hopes of reaching the final, Victor believes their impressive run to the semi-final demonstrates that the team has a promising future.
“I can say that the future of my team is bright considering our performance in this competition. We wanted to reach the final, but I am proud and satisfied with our performance as a team,” he said.
The youngster’s composure and involvement in midfield stood out during the tournament, prompting questions about the player who inspires his development.
Victor revealed that Argentine international and Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández is his football role model.
“Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine and Chelsea midfielder,” he said when asked who he looks up to in his position.
The young midfielder also disclosed that his support for Chelsea has allowed him to closely follow Fernández’s performances and learn from his style of play.
“I support Chelsea and monitor Enzo to shape my performance,” Victor explained.
Despite the disappointment of falling short at the semi-final stage, Victor’s ambitions extend far beyond the FEMMCO championship. The youngster dreams of representing Nigeria at the international level and believes he can eventually contribute to solving the midfield challenges facing the Super Eagles.
“Yes, I would love to play for the national team of Nigeria and solve the midfield challenges for the Super Eagles of Nigeria,” he declared.
For Victor, the semi-final defeat represents a learning experience rather than the end of the road. With his confidence, ambition and admiration for one of Europe’s emerging midfield talents, the D’Hola FA youngster will now look to continue developing his game and pursue his dream of wearing Nigeria’s colours in the future.
