FC Porto beat Benfica 2-0 at the Estádio Do Dragao on Wednesday night to clinch their 22nd Portuguese Super Cup.
Nigerian international, Zaidu Sanusi was in action for the duration of the game in what was a fiercely contested encounter.
Porto emerged victorious courtesy of goals at each half from Sérgio Oliveira and Luis Diaz.
Sanusi was solid for the majority of the game. He made 4 tackles, 3 interceptions and won 7 of 9 total duels he contested in.
The trophy is the first of his professional career. The left-back who joined Porto last summer from fellow Portuguese side Santa Clara has had a fruitful year.
He got called up to the Nigerian national team for the first time in October this year and was handed his debut.
Sanusi has been a key piece of Porto’s defense since joining, also helping the Portuguese champions reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League where Juventus awaits.
