Yemi Lawal Pledges Development In All Sporting Activities In The State

The Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Yemi Lawal has expressed commitment of the Government to develop all sports in the state.

Lawal told FUBF on Tuesday evening that his administration won’t focus only on football, but will develop and try to improve all other sporting activities in the state.

” The truth is that people focus only on football, but we are here to change that mentality. He told FUBF.

“Giving football all the concentration weakens other sports and when I came in last year as Commissioner, I made a promise that sports will be taken to a whole new level in Osun State and am happy we are achieving gradually.

” When we talk about sports, people remember only football, but sports actually includes Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Boxing, Track and Field and many others.

” A lot of people have been saying that the Osogbo City Stadium had been under construction for the past 10 years or so, well am glad to let you know that work has been going on there, even at this period of COVID-19.

” In the next few months, the Stadium will be commissioned, as we plan to have a world class gym, that will aid and help improve Gymnastic, Weightlifting, Boxing and many others in the state, also we plan to finish with the construction of the swimming pool, this will help the swimmers and enable people to relax.

The commissioner also promised to carry all sports stakeholders, including the sports council along in the effort to develop sports generally in the state and expressed the hope that they would pave way for easy development of sports in the state.
