Why Nigerian footballers are excelling in the diaspora – Ojo Paul Omamomo

Over the past seven years there’s been a high rate of Nigerian footballers traveling out of the country to sign foreign professional deals and contracts worth millions of euros and there’s always an agent/manager involved.

Ojo Paul Omamomo is among the most reputed agents in Nigeria having worked with players like Wilfred Ndidi who’s now in Leicester City, Esiti Anderson of Paok FC, Isaac Success of Watford FC and other players even in the Nigerian Premiere league. During an interview with Paul Ojo he said that Nigerian players are excelling in football because of genuine honesty, hard-work and determination towards achieving a goal. Before a player is able to get to a level where he’s playing internationally there’s a certain amount of hard work and commitment required from the player and it’s the type of commitment that’s built on trust and loyalty.

In his words, “I have worked with several players internationally and nationally, the level of honesty, loyalty and commitment with which the players place on the agents and managers cannot be measured. I have heard of a few players who end up double crossing their managers and agents but I’ve never had to work with any”.

In a detailed interviewed Paul told Sports247 that he is able to work with players without actually giving them contract and his ethics/standard of work is based solely on trust from the involved party and that is why he’s been able to work with players without any conflict.

He also stated that players who believe in their agents and managers are bound to succeed more frequently than others who have several managers due to lack of confidence.

Paul Ojo was also nominated for the Best African Agent of the year award during 2019 African Sports Award in Johannesburg, South Africa.
