Head coach Mbwas Mangut has expressed cautious optimism over Nasarawa United’s chances of securing a continental ticket following their emphatic 3–0 victory over Warri Wolves in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 35 encounter.
The “Solid Miners” returned to winning ways at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, ending a three-game winless run and strengthening their push for a top-three finish.

Goals from Victor Chimezie, Ngei Oluka-Efor and Habibu Alakija sealed a comfortable win for the hosts. Chimezie opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before halftime, while Oluka-Efor and Alakija added further goals in the second half to cap a dominant display.
Reacting after the match, Mangut acknowledged the significance of the result but stressed that the race for continental qualification remains wide open.
“We’re worried that our title contenders are also winning their games away. We still have a lot of work to do with the remaining three matches left to end the current campaign to enable us achieve our goals,” he said.
The victory lifts Nasarawa United to fifth position on the NPFL table with 50 points from 34 matches, keeping them firmly in contention for a continental slot. Meanwhile, Warri Wolves, coached by Napoleon Aluma, remain in 14th place with 43 points.
With three matches left in the season, Mangut’s side will need consistency and favorable results elsewhere to break into the top positions, but their latest performance signals renewed belief within the squad as the campaign enters its decisive phase.
