Three talented female footballers have officially taken the next major step in their careers after securing professional contracts in Turkey, opening a new chapter in their football journeys.
Hembafan Omosuyi and Judith Okah, who both featured for Nasarawa Amazons in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), are joined by Mariam Abdulkabir, who previously played in the Ghana Women’s League.
The trio have now departed for Turkey after completing their respective deals and are ready to embrace the challenge of playing football in a new country and environment.
For Omosuyi and Okah, the move represents another important stage in their development after competing in Nigeria’s domestic women’s league, while Abdulkabir brings her experience from the Ghanaian women’s football scene.
The players were accompanied on their journey by Nigerian women’s football representatives Sunny BK and Francis Osigbeme, who facilitated the deals in Turkey and played an important role in helping the players secure the opportunities.
Speaking before the journey, one of the players said:
“This is a very important step in our careers. We know that moving to a new country comes with challenges, but we are ready to work, learn and give our best. We want to make the most of this opportunity and continue growing as footballers.”
The move provides the three players with an opportunity to gain international experience, compete in a different football environment and potentially attract further attention as they continue their professional careers.
Their departure also represents another encouraging development for Nigerian women’s football, with more homegrown talents finding pathways to clubs outside the country.
For Sunny BK and Francis Osigbeme, successfully facilitating the trio’s moves is another milestone in their efforts to create opportunities for female footballers seeking to take their careers to the next level.
Now in Turkey, Omosuyi, Okah and Abdulkabir will turn their attention to settling into their new surroundings and proving themselves on the pitch.
