In an official statement released following the conclusion of the campaign, the Sky Blue Stars confirmed that they will compete in the Nigeria National League next season after failing to retain their top-flight status.
The club described the outcome as heartbreaking for everyone connected to the team, including supporters, players, staff, and management, while admitting responsibility for the disappointing campaign.
“This outcome is heartbreaking for everyone connected to the club,” the statement read.
“The expectations attached to this club were high, and rightly so. Unfortunately, we did not deliver the performances or consistency required to maintain our place in the division. We take full responsibility for that failure.”
Despite the setback, Remo Stars maintained that the club’s identity and ambition remain intact, insisting that plans are already underway to rebuild and secure an immediate return to the NPFL.
The club also expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by the team throughout the difficult season, acknowledging the loyalty shown during challenging moments.
“To our fans who filled the stands, supported the team online, and stood by us even during our darkest moments; thank you,” the statement added.
“Our focus now turns toward rebuilding with purpose and determination. Important decisions will be made and every effort will be directed toward returning this club to where it belongs.”
Remo Stars’ relegation brought an end to a difficult campaign in which inconsistent performances and struggles away from home ultimately proved costly for the Ikenne-based side.
The club will now shift attention toward restructuring ahead of life in the Nigeria National League, with supporters hoping for a swift return to the top flight.
