President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, has revealed that the federation’s ongoing two-day retreat is focused on reviewing progress and setting new strategic targets for the future of badminton in the country.
Speaking on the purpose of the retreat, Orbih stressed the importance of long-term planning and stronger administrative structures for sustained success.
“We must plan better for the future,” he said.
According to the federation president, the retreat is designed to assess achievements so far while identifying areas that require improvement moving forward.
“We are reviewing our progress carefully,” he implied.
Orbih also highlighted the need for stronger partnerships and collaborations to help grow the sport nationally and internationally.
“Partnerships are very important,” he noted.
The badminton administrator emphasized that athlete development programmes must remain a key priority if Nigeria hopes to compete consistently at top international competitions.
“We must improve athlete development,” he added.
For Orbih, proper planning and structure are essential to building sustainable sporting success.
“You cannot succeed without clear direction,” he stressed.
He revealed that the retreat is expected to produce important resolutions aimed at strengthening badminton administration across the country.
“We want solid foundations for the future,” he said.
Nigeria’s badminton federation has continued pushing for greater growth and international competitiveness in recent years.
For Orbih, the message is clear.
Review progress honestly.
Plan strategically.
And invest in athlete development.
Because lasting sporting success is built through preparation, structure, and continuous improvement.
