Isiaka Ashiata, commonly known as Ololade, a player for Abia Angels, offered her insights following the conclusion of the NWFL Premiership match week 7 encounter between Abia Angels and Dannaz Ladies, which concluded with a 1-0 scoreline.

However, she referenced a penalty awarded to their opponents, Dannaz Ladies, during the match, suggesting that it was not a legitimate foul.

“We wanted to come to Lagos and gain points. But as God wanted it, everybody saw that penalty awarded to our opponent. It was not a foul ball.” Isiaka told Sports247

According to Ololade, the perceived home advantage played a role in the decision, and she emphasized the need for her team to be cautious during away matches, focusing on avoiding contact with opponents to minimize the risk of penalties being awarded against them.

“I think it’s home advantage. So next time, we think we have to work on that. When we go for away matches, we work on avoiding our opponents, not touching them. So we have to be fast on them.”

Despite the outcome, Ololade remained optimistic, acknowledging that Abia Angels had more chances during the game.

She attributed the result to factors like home advantage and expressed gratitude for the overall match experience.

Looking ahead, Ololade revealed that the team plans to address specific aspects in their gameplay, including avoiding unnecessary contact and improving their finishing skills.

She conveyed confidence that, with adjustments and strategic planning, Abia Angels would return stronger in subsequent matches, particularly when playing at home in Aba.

“But we thank God for the game because we had chances more than them. We had more chances. So I think when we go back, our coach is going to work on that, our attacker, our finishing.

So we are coming back better. They are coming to Aba. We are taking back the three points.”

Ololade’s reflections offer a glimpse into the competitive nature of the NWFL Premiership and the determination of teams to learn from each match, making necessary improvements for future encounters.
