Rangers International general manager Amobi Ezeaku has urged supporters to trust the process as the defending Nigeria Premier Football League champions begin another demanding campaign, insisting that the club is building a project designed to stand the test of time.
Sports247 reports that Ezeaku spoke following Rangers’ opening league fixture and ahead of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round encounter against AS Sobemap of Porto-Novo on Sunday.
According to the Rangers administrator, the club’s recent history provides reason for optimism despite the result in their opening league match.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel. We have never won our opening match since I came to Rangers, and we go on to win the league, like last season,” Ezeaku said.
Rangers are hoping to defend their domestic title while also making an impact on the continental stage. However, Ezeaku was cautious about publicly outlining the club’s ambitions, stressing that the immediate priority is Sunday’s CAF Champions League assignment.
“I don’t like to speak about our ambition, but the league is part of it. Our primary focus is to win our CAF games on Sunday for the fans,” he stated.
The Flying Antelopes have adopted the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta as their temporary home for their continental campaign, with the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu still undergoing renovation.
Ezeaku believes the decision also presents an opportunity for Rangers to connect with supporters in Ogun State, particularly as Shooting Stars are also scheduled to use the MKO Abiola Stadium for their continental fixtures.
“Our fans are coming to support us alongside Shooting Stars’ continental games right here in Abeokuta,” he said.
Beyond immediate results, Ezeaku emphasized the broader vision behind Rangers’ current project, calling on supporters to remain patient as the club continues its development.
“We are on a journey building something that will outlive us. Trust the process,” he said.
With the CAF Champions League now taking center stage, Rangers will be looking to turn their continental ambitions into action when they face AS Sobemap on Sunday.
For Ezeaku and the Rangers hierarchy, the objective is clear: remain focused, compete on multiple fronts and build an institution capable of achieving sustained success beyond the present generation.
