Edo Queens FC head coach Kennedy Boboye has urged his players to remain focused after their emphatic 5-1 victory over USFA Football Féminin in the semifinal of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League Qualification Tournament.
Sports247 reports that despite the convincing scoreline, Boboye insisted that Edo Queens have not yet achieved their ultimate objective, stressing the need for continued preparation ahead of the final against Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa.

“Yeah, we have not conquered yet, but we will need to prepare well against Ampem Darkoa in the final,” Boboye said after the semifinal victory.
The coach also highlighted the importance of the playing surface in his team’s performance, explaining that the wider pitch allowed Edo Queens to make better use of their passing and attacking movements.
“We have some players we didn’t start in our last game. The pitch wasn’t wide enough like today’s game that helped our final passes to go through,” he explained.
Boboye praised his team’s quality on the wings and revealed that Edo Queens had deliberately planned to frustrate their opponents’ ability to play through possession.
“Our team has quality in the wing play. We planned to deny the opponents with ball play. Utilising our chances gave us an edge, too,” he stated.
The Edo Queens boss also provided an update on Esther, who had impressed during the team’s previous encounter against Ampem Darkoa but was unable to start in the semifinal after falling slightly ill.
“I think the game against Ampem Darkoa, Esther played her best but was a bit sick that she couldn’t start in the semifinal,” Boboye said.
Attention now shifts to what promises to be a highly competitive final against Ampem Darkoa, with Boboye describing the encounter as a derby between two West African sides.
“It is going to be a Derby against the Ghanaian side, Ampem Darkoa, and the business will be settled in the final,” he added.
While Edo Queens enter the final on the back of a five-goal semifinal performance, Boboye knows there is still work to do. The coach revealed that his technical team will use the remaining training sessions to address areas requiring improvement before the decisive encounter.
“We have to correct a lot in the training session ahead of the final,” he concluded.
Edo Queens will now look to turn their impressive semifinal display into another strong performance when they face Ampem Darkoa with qualification for the Women’s Champions League at stake.
