Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC head coach Charles Anokye Frimpong says his team will restrategise and make the necessary adjustments ahead of their highly anticipated final against Nigeria’s Edo Queens in the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament.
The Ghanaian champions booked their place in the final with an impressive 4-1 victory over Dynamique FC in the semifinal, setting up a decisive showdown with Edo Queens.

Speaking to the media after the semifinal, Frimpong revealed that his technical team is already studying their previous encounter against Edo Queens, with the coach waiting for a detailed analysis from his analyst before making final tactical decisions. Sports247 gathered.
“Well, I asked my analyst to break down our game against Edo Queens in the last group match. Still waiting for the data. The final is a different ball game and we will just do the needful,” Frimpong said.
The two teams are no strangers to each other, having already met during the group stage, where Ampem Darkoa secured a 2-1 victory over Edo Queens.
However, Edo Queens head coach Kennedy Boboye has suggested that the narrow pitch used during the group encounter affected his side’s ability to play their preferred passing game. Boboye believes the wider playing surface in the final could give Edo Queens an advantage and provide an opportunity to avenge their earlier defeat.
Frimpong, however, believes the final will bring an entirely different psychological dimension, with both technical teams expected to make adjustments based on what they have learned from their previous meeting.
“When it gets to the final stage, mind games will arise,” the Ampem Darkoa coach said.
Rather than dwelling on the group-stage result, Frimpong insists his team will focus on preparation and tactical execution.
“We are coming up, we will restrategise and plan on how to win in the final,” he added.
The Ghanaian side’s emphatic semifinal victory has further raised expectations ahead of the championship decider, while Edo Queens will enter the contest with confidence following their own 5-1 demolition of USFA Football Féminin in the other semifinal.
With both sides having already experienced each other once, the final promises to be a tactical battle between two West African heavyweights, with qualification for the next stage of the Women’s Champions League providing the ultimate prize.
For Ampem Darkoa, it will be an opportunity to prove that their group-stage victory was no fluke. For Edo Queens, it is a chance to settle the score.
