The tournament, which features six teams, has been grouped into two zones:

Group A includes host nation Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin Republic.

Group B features Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Niger.

The WAFU-B U20 Boys Cup will serve as a crucial preparation platform for the Nigeria U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, as they continue their build-up to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled for September 27 to October 19, 2025.

Led by Coach Aliyu Zubairu, the Flying Eagles—two-time runners-up at the FIFA U20 World Cup—are aiming to fine-tune their squad and tactical structure ahead of the global showpiece.

In a statement, WAFU-B emphasized the importance of technical integrity and developmental impact of the competition, noting that the appointment of match officials from each country underscores the region’s commitment to fair play and regional collaboration.

With continental pride and global ambitions on the line, the 2025 WAFU-B U20 Boys Cup is shaping up to be more than just a regional tournament—it is a launchpad for West Africa’s next generation of football stars.
