WAFCON: “We Don’t Want Distraction In Our Team”, Randy Waldrum Lambast Nigeria Media After Super Falcons Victory

Head Coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum has expressed his displeasure over the “negative” reception the team is getting in Nigeria following yesterday’s 2-0 victory over the Zebra of Botswana in their second Group C match.

Super Falcons bounced back from their disappointing start in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, after losing to Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the opening game of Group C.

Ifeoma Onumonu and substitute Christy Ucheibe scored in both halves to hand Nigeria who is looking to secure a World Cup ticket a much-needed three points and their first win of the competition at the Moulay Hassan Stadium.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Waldrum blasted the Media in Nigeria for their hostile attitude toward the team, saying that the team doesn’t want distraction as they are focused on qualifying for the World Cup.

“Media in Nigeria is very negative. We don’t want distraction in our team.”

“We are trying to qualify for the World Cup and the teams must be isolated,” he said.

The defending champions will face their Burundi counterparts in their final game of Group C on Sunday.
