WABA Is Officially Registered As The World Boxing Body By The Tanzanian Government

The Government of Tanzania has officially registered the World Africa Boxing Association (WABA) as the world sanction body.

The Registrar of Sports Associations part of the National Sports Council of Tanzania which was enacted by the Act of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania No: 12 of 1967 and its amendments Act No: 6 of 1971 providing establishment of the amateur and professional sports associations. The National Sports Council of Tanzania is a member of the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa.

Speaking after the official endorsement by the Tanzanian government, the founding President and Chair of the Board of WABA Hon. Ky Col. Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi said that the move comes at the right moment when his body is currently laying down infrastructural networks around the world.

Hon. Ky Col Ngowi said that “WABA was first registered as a limited liability by guarantee in 2019 but the need to make it part of the mainstream sports bodies, encouraged us to register it as the sports association”.

Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi revealed that WABA is on the process to establish several WABA continental bodies such as WABA/Africa, WABA/USA, WABA/China, WABA/Middle East, WABA/Asian Pacific, WABA/Latin America, WABA/Europe, WABA/Australasia, etc.

Meanwhile, the WABA President and Chair of the Board has appointed the long time sports expert Mr. Boniface Wambura from Tanzania to be a member of the board of directors. Mr. Wambura who doubles as the WABA Commissioner to Tanzania joins several notable personalities such as Mr. Simon Adjamba from Namibia who is also the WABA Vice President.

Other new members of the board of directors are Mr. Henry Mainly-Spain from Ghana who is also the WABA Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Stephen Andrew Kalakoda who is also the WABA Commissioner to South Africa and Mr. Antonio Pino Pesons from the Philippines who is also WABA President to Asian Pacific as new board members.

The WABA President has also appointed Mr. Agapito Basil Jambwale to the WABA Ratings Committee. Mr. Jambwale is the Acting President of the Tanzania Professional Boxing and Regulatory Commission (TPBRC).

In another development, WABA is preparing to launch its championship belts i.e. WABA continental, WABA international, WABA intercontinental, WABA global and WABA world supreme as well as WABA merchandise line.
