Enyeama, who featured for Nigeria in five AFCON editions between 2004 and 2013, recorded 10 clean sheets, placing him alongside Côte d’Ivoire’s Alain Gouaméné and Morocco’s Yassine Bounou. He trails only Egypt’s iconic Essam El Hadary, who leads with 14 clean sheets, and Boubacar Copa of Côte d’Ivoire, with 11.

During his AFCON career, Enyeama established himself as one of Africa’s most reliable and consistent goalkeepers.

His performances were instrumental in Nigeria securing four bronze medals in 2004, 2006, and 2010, before culminating in the crowning achievement of his international career — winning the 2013 AFCON title in South Africa.

“This recognition further cements Enyeama’s legacy as one of the greatest goalkeepers to have ever played African football,” analysts say, highlighting his leadership, shot-stopping ability, and calmness under pressure.

With 10 clean sheets across five tournaments, Enyeama’s enduring impact between the sticks continues to inspire a new generation of Nigerian goalkeepers, reinforcing his status as a legend of the game.
