Uzoho still the best hand for Eagles, says Former Eagles Coach

Former Eagles goalie and former assistant coach of the Eagles, Joe Erico has called on some section of Nigerian supporters who have continued to criticize Francis Uzoho for his blunder against Seychelles in Asaba in the final game of the qualifiers last month to cut the shot stopper some slack as mistakes happen in football.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho’s misjudged movement cost the Eagles an equaliser against Seychelles in their final 2019 AFCON qualifier.

Uzoho rushed out of his area to punch a free-kick but failed to make contact with the ball which left Rody Melanie to dispatch his effort to the back of an empty net.

And with some Nigerian soccer loves yet to forgive the 19 year old, Erico, in a chat with Sports247 stated that Uzoho must bounce back, despite the fact that mistakes made my goalkeepers during matches are obvious.

“Even football players on the field make mistakes on the field, you are many of them, even shooting wide when no one is marking them”.

“It’s just that a goalie mistake is very obvious and looks unpardonable , but a goalie must bounce back because he knows that mistakes are inevitable, you can look beyond mistakes although one factor do”.

Uzoho will be looking to retain his first choice place in the Eagles ahead of the AFCON in Egypt in the month of June.
