Umuahia North Hosts Final ASF Seminar Ahead of Tournament Kickoff

The curtain fell on the Abia Soccer Fest (ASF) seminar series on Saturday, August 16, 2025, as Umuahia North hosted the final lap for the Abia Central Senatorial Zone.

The seminar brought together representatives from Umuahia South, Ikwuano, Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, Osisioma, and Umuahia North.

Like the earlier sessions in Abia North and Abia South, the seminar focused on the latest developments in football while providing participants with a practical understanding of the rules of the game.

Resource persons took the attendees through key areas of officiating, ensuring they were well-prepared for the upcoming competition.

A lively question-and-answer session gave participants the opportunity to raise concerns and seek clarifications on what many often perceive as questionable refereeing decisions.

The discussions helped dispel misconceptions, especially regarding rules on offside, time wasting, and rough tackles.

Participants expressed deep satisfaction with the seminar, commending the organizers for its success and calling on the state government to institutionalise it as an annual program.

The importance of the seminar cannot be overstated—it not only enhances knowledge of the game but also promotes fair play, discipline, and capacity-building at the grassroots level.

By empowering local representatives with the right understanding of football rules, the ASF sets a strong foundation for a transparent and competitive tournament.

With the conclusion of the seminar series, the ASF is now fully set to commence on August 23, 2025, bringing to life Governor Alex Otti’s vision of sports as a tool for youth empowerment, community cohesion, and talent discovery.
