Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has given Ajax Amsterdam supporters a difficult choice after earning two nominations for the club’s October Goal of the Month award.
The Nigerian forward was recognised for his strikes against Atalanta in the UEFA Conference League and AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie, following an impressive month in which he scored four goals in six appearances.
Arokodare’s nomination against Atalanta came after he broke the deadlock three minutes from time on October 22. The striker controlled a long pass from Youri Baas, beat a defender and calmly finished past the goalkeeper to deliver a late breakthrough for Ajax.
His second nomination followed an equally decisive contribution against AZ Alkmaar. Arokodare rose above defender Mees de Wit to meet Abdellah Ouazane’s cross in the ninth minute, scoring the only goal of the encounter and securing a narrow victory for his side.
The two strikes highlight different aspects of the Nigerian’s attacking qualities, with his Atalanta finish demonstrating composure and individual ability, while his effort against AZ underlined his aerial strength and positioning inside the box.
Arokodare is competing against several Ajax teammates for the monthly accolade, including Abdellah Ouazane, who also received two nominations. Davy Klaassen, Leo Salazar, Abdoulaye Camara and Naoufal Mouslim complete the list.
The recognition comes during a season in which the Super Eagles forward has continued to establish himself in Dutch football after joining Ajax on a season-long loan in July, with a purchase option included in the agreement.
For Arokodare, the double nomination represents more than a personal achievement. It also offers another opportunity to strengthen his standing among Ajax supporters as he continues his campaign in Amsterdam.
With two goals competing for the same award, the Nigerian striker has already ensured that his October performances will remain part of the conversation among the club’s fans.
