Troost-Ekong Rates High In Physical, Aggressive Play

Udinese of Italy defender, William Troost-Ekong has received high marks from one of the Serie A club’s technical buffs, as the Udine-based outfit’s technical director, Daniele Prade  says the Super Eagles stopper has a good physical structure and is an aggressive player.

Despite his current rating, sports247.ng notes that this is coming despite Troost-Ekong’s inability to make the cut at Tottenham Hotspur and got only two appearances for FC Groningen of Holland in two years with the Dutch minnows.

Despite all that, he was thrown straight into the fray on the opening weekend of the season, as Udinese played against Parma as Stadio Ennio Tardini, but he appeared to struggle at some points during the game.

However, since that opening game, the Holland-born mulatto defender has featured a further four times, conceding just two goals and keeping two clean sheets.

To date, Udinese have the joint-second best defensive record in Serie A and Troost-Ekong is averaging seven clearances per game – putting him in the top 10 for the division.

While also noting that the former Haugesund of Norway, KAA Gent of Belgium and Bursaspor of Turkey defender has good defensive and offensive attributes, Prade further declared that Troost-Ekong has improved immensely since making his Serie A debut.

Prade declared: “Ekong is a player with an important physical structure, skilled in the air both defensively and offensively. We are talking about an aggressive central defender.”
