Nigeria’s sprint hurdles queen Tobi Amusan has served a powerful reminder of her world-class pedigree, clocking a stunning 12.24 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Meeting de Paris, a leg of the 2025 Wanda Diamond League.
Although Amusan finished second behind American Grace Stark—who blazed to a new meet record and lifetime best of 12.21 seconds—the Nigerian star’s performance marked her fastest time since setting the world record (12.12s) in 2022, and now stands as the fourth-fastest time globally this year.

Displaying her trademark fluidity and unmatched speed between the barriers, Amusan surged late in the race to close a considerable gap, nearly snatching victory from the in-form Stark.
The performance is a significant milestone in what has been a steady return to form for Amusan, who lost her world title in 2023 amidst a turbulent season. Now brimming with renewed confidence and rhythm, the 27-year-old appears to be peaking at the right time.
Amusan is already looking ahead to reclaiming her Diamond League crown in Zurich later this season, with eyes also firmly set on a major world title bid—likely the World Championships or the Olympic Games, depending on her campaign route.
Her Paris run not only signals a return to elite-level consistency but sends a strong warning to her global rivals: Tobi Amusan is back—and hunting for gold.
