An official from the Organising Committee stated that they were anticipating President Tinubu’s presence at the opening ceremony, which will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

However, the official noted that they were awaiting confirmation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding Tinubu’s availability for the event.

The Presidency has shown a keen interest in the National Youth Games, aiming to provide a solid foundation for young athletes to launch their sporting careers.

If President Tinubu cannot attend due to a busy schedule, the Sports Minister and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, may perform the opening ceremony.

The National Youth Games began in 2013 in Abuja, with the past five editions held in Ilorin, Kwara State. The Asaba 2023 National Youth Games, themed ‘We are the Future,’ is set to host over 4,500 athletes, making it the largest edition to date.
