Terem Moffi Knows He Won’t Be Able To Play For Nice Anymore – Roger Ricort

OGC Nice of France striker, Teremas (Terem) Igobor Moffi could be on his way out of the French Ligue 1 club in the coming week, following a declaration by the team’s sporting director, Roger Ricort that the Super Eagles’ star knows he has no place in the squad for the coming season.

Sports247 reports that, although Moffi recently added relevance to his value in the Super Eagles and even captained them for some matches in reent international friendly tournamenets, his status at club level is largely in doubt.

In contrast with the international recognition that recently came for Moffi, who first captained the Super Eagles in May 2026, when he led the Nigerian team to a 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe at the Unity Cup in London, Ricort confirmed that the striker will leave the Ligue 1 side this summer.

Since making his national team debut against Cameroon during a friendly in June 2021, Moffi has four goals in 20 appearances for Nigeria, but his status at club level dropped last season when he spent the second half of the campaign out on loan at FC Porto of Portugal.

That came after he slipped down the pecking order at Nice, heightened by off-field issues, when the 27-year-old striker sought an exit after he was attacked by angry supporters in November, following a defeat to Lorient.

Sadly, Porto decided not to trigger an €8m buy-out option in his loan deal and, despite resuming pre-season with Nice, Ricort has come out with a damning verdict that he expects Moffi to secure a move before the transfer window closes.

“He is on the list of players we want to leave. He will surely be transferred elsewhere. We don’t necessarily respect the man, but we will respect the player. At the moment, he knows he won’t be able to play for Nice anymore either.

“I think that would show a lack of respect to our supporters, but so long as he is here, we will try and be proper with him and his agents. When he finds a club, we will shake hands and wish each other good luck,” Ricort told GFFN.
