Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has completed a permanent move from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice to Bundesliga club Hamburger SV, beginning a new chapter in his career in Germany.
Sports247 reports that the 27-year-old Nigerian forward has signed with the newly promoted German club and will wear the iconic No. 9 shirt. The transfer was completed on Monday, August 24, 2026, after Hamburger SV reached an agreement with Nice for his services.
Moffi arrives at Hamburg seeking to revive his goalscoring form after a challenging period in France and Portugal. He joined Nice from Lorient in January 2023 and went on to score 24 goals in 72 appearances for the French club.
His progress at Nice was disrupted by a serious cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for much of the 2024/25 campaign. After returning to action, he spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Moffi made 15 competitive appearances for Porto during his loan spell, scoring twice, but the club did not make the move permanent. He subsequently returned to Nice before securing his transfer to Hamburg.
The move to Germany represents an opportunity for the Nigerian international to rediscover the form that made him one of the most sought-after forwards in French football.
Hamburger SV, meanwhile, will hope Moffi can provide the goals needed to strengthen their attack as they return to the Bundesliga. The Nigerian joins the club with experience across several European leagues and six senior international goals for Nigeria.
The transfer reportedly involves an initial fee of €2 million, with a further €500,000 available in bonuses, while Moffi’s contract is understood to run until 2029.
With the No. 9 shirt now on his back, Moffi will be hoping that Germany provides the platform for a strong resurgence and a return to his best goalscoring form.
