The move signals FIFA’s growing embrace of pop culture and global entertainment in football’s evolving spectacle.
Afrobeats powerhouse Tems, known for her soulful voice and Grammy-winning artistry, will become the first Nigerian artist to grace the halftime stage of a FIFA tournament final — a defining cultural moment for Nigeria and Africa at large.
Joining her are Doja Cat, the genre-defying American rapper and singer, and Colombian reggaeton superstar J Balvin, both bringing massive global appeal and diverse sounds to the performance. The trio is expected to deliver an electric fusion of Afrobeats, Latin rhythm, and American pop-rap — representing the multicultural heartbeat of world football.
“FIFA is thrilled to work with Global Citizen to present this historic halftime show,” said a FIFA spokesperson. “This is more than music — it’s a message of unity, inclusion, and global celebration through football.”
The Club World Cup 2025 marks the tournament’s first edition under its expanded 32-team format, and with the final expected to draw tens of millions of viewers globally, the halftime show will spotlight the rising intersection of sport and social impact.
Global Citizen, renowned for its advocacy on global poverty, health, and equality, says the collaboration is part of a broader vision to use the platform of sport to elevate voices and issues that matter.
