Technical Adviser Imama Amapakabo Shuns Kano Pillars, Commits To Abia Warriors For 2025/26 NPFL Season

Abia Warriors have scored a major win off the pitch with the official confirmation that Technical Adviser Imama Amapakabo will remain at the helm for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, putting an end to speculation linking him with a move to Kano Pillars.

Rumours had swirled in recent days about a possible switch to the Kano-based club, but Abia Warriors’ Media Director, Solomon Igwe, dismissed the claims, describing Pillars’ approach as an attempted poach.

“He’s with us. He didn’t join Kano Pillars as alleged,” Igwe stated. “No rancour whatsoever. It was Kano Pillars that went behind to poach. But it’s all in the past now. We move.”

The decision by Amapakabo, a former Super Eagles assistant coach, to stay on signals continuity and stability for the Umuahia side, as they intensify preparations for the new campaign. Under his technical advise, the club is aiming to build on previous progress and push for a stronger showing in the NPFL.

With pre-season underway, Amapakabo’s experience and tactical insight are seen as crucial assets as Abia Warriors look to be among the top contenders in the upcoming season.

The confirmation of his stay has been met with relief and optimism from fans, who now look forward to another exciting chapter under the leadership of the respected tactician
