The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) set the stage ablaze with the commencement of the 2023 End-of-Year Sports Fiesta at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba.

The participants battled it out in various sports, with Team Unity emerging as the front runners, seizing gold medals across multiple events and dominating the medals log.

In a thrilling finale that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Team Peace exhibited determination and resilience in a fiercely contested match against Unity in the Stronger2gether Fiesta Games.

The encounter ended in a 5-5 stalemate at regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout where Team Peace secured a 6-5 victory, claiming the championship title.

The table tennis event witnessed intense competition, with Sanyaolu Lukman of the Strength Team clinching the gold medal in the male category by defeating Olasupo Williams.

In the female category, Tokosi Munirat of Team Unity emerged victorious by overpowering Issa Balikis (Strength) and her competitors.

The Scrabble game saw Adeeko Adeyemi (Strength) and Temitope Smith (Commitment) standing atop the podium as gold medalists in the male and female categories, respectively.

In basketball, Team Unity secured another gold medal by defeating Team Peace. Meanwhile, in volleyball, Team Strength asserted their dominance with a 2-1 victory over Team Peace, setting the stage for a final clash with Team Commitment.

Yemi Adebara (Strength) and Abisola Omotayo (Commitment) claimed gold in the male and female categories of the Chess board game, marking the end of the board game contests.

With a remarkable tally of 4 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals, Team Unity leads the medals table. Team Strength follows closely with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while Team Commitment boasts 2 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Team Peace rounds off the rankings with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

The LSSC sports extravaganza continues with Tug O’War, Traditional game (Abula), 5-A-side Football, and Badminton scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue
