Ondo State’s contingent for the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games, has commenced closed-camp training in preparation for the national event.

The state will be represented by 162 athletes who will compete in 19 different sports at the festival, which is scheduled to begin on May 16, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Speaking during an interview, the General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council, Mr. Sunday Fagite, confirmed that the athletes resumed camp on Saturday. He emphasized that preparations are in full swing and of high quality, as the team aims to build on the momentum from their recent performance at the Niger Delta Sports Festival held in Akwa Ibom.
At the maiden edition of the regional festival, Team Ondo was among nine participating states and secured a commendable fifth-place finish with a total of 43 medals.
