Team Benue, Niger win Nestle Basketball Central Conference Championship

Father O’Connell Science College, Minna, Niger State and Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue have emerged as winners in the male and female categories of the 21st Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship.

 

Team Niger defeated Christ Comprehensive College, Kaduna 35-18 to be crowned as the champions in the male category.

In the female category, team Benue defeated Government Secondary School, Karu, Abuja 30-23 to become the central Conference champion.

Branded buses were given to the victorious schools, alongside N100,000 cheque and certificate.

In his closing address, the Branch Manager, North Central, Folabi Adeleye said playing basketball instills core values in young people.

“While the game requires hard work, players also learn to exert their skills each time they participate in the games.

“In fact, young people have a lot to learn from playing basketball because it instills critical values such as discipline, determination, respect and teamwork in them.”

Both schools will represent their region when the National finals starts at the National stadium, Lagos – from June 27 to July 4, 2019.
