TCC Cup: Conversion of Chances Hand Defending Champions Gbagada FC First Win

Matchday two of The Creative Championship Cup started early and Gbagada FC picked up their first win courtesy of a 3-1 win over Imperial FC.

Gbagada were forced to a 1-1 draw in the first cup game against newcomers Atlantic Business but have since went on a run of two consecutive wins with victory over Iganmu FC in the LagosWGB FA Cup to get through to the round of 16 and then over Imperial in the TCC Cup.

Akinyelu Olajide explained that his team did nothing different other than converting their chances to earn them their first three points in the round-robin group game.

“After the draw against Atlantic in which the boys played well, we had a win against Iganmu in the FA Cup and what did we do differently? Nothing,” Olajide told Sports247.

“We just kept training our way and we converted our chances this time. The boys are in good spirits, the training sessions are fun, there is a healthy competition in the squad and that had helped the team in general in getting desired results,” he added.

With one more game left after the second matchday in the cup, teams will prepare for the last game in which the top two qualify for the semi-final which will be in a home and away format with the final said to hold in May at the Remo Stadium Ikenne.
