Osimhen acknowledges the significance of winning AFCON, stating, “It would be one of the best moments of my life. I have done that with Napoli, I have made history, but no matter what I do, no matter how many goals I have scored, to be able to win the AFCON, I would go a long way in my life but probably when I do that I am done.”

The striker, who led Napoli to their first Scudetto since 1990, shares insights into handling the pressure, stating, “I am the kind of person who doesn’t fold under pressure.”

He emphasizes his commitment to giving his best for both club and country, addressing the expectations of over 220 million Nigerians.

Reflecting on winning the African Player of the Year award, Osimhen describes it as a dream come true, highlighting the hard work, sweat, and tears that contributed to this achievement. The striker sees the award as a recognition of his dedication to the sport.

Acknowledging the influence of Nigerian football legends Nwankwo Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, Osimhen expresses humility, stating, “To be up there in the same category as them — not that I am better than them in terms of football, but in terms of what I have achieved — I think is huge for me.”

The Napoli forward, who recently signed a new contract with the club, looks forward to leading Nigeria to AFCON success, drawing inspiration from past experiences and the guidance of his predecessors.

Despite the disappointment of the opening group game, Osimhen remains optimistic, emphasizing the team’s quality and the potential for a successful tournament.

As Osimhen eyes victory in the upcoming AFCON clashes, the striker aims to add another chapter to his remarkable journey, making a lasting impact on Nigerian football and solidifying his place among the country’s football greats.
