Nigeria’s beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles, are bracing for a titanic showdown with Ghana’s squad in the final qualification match towards this year’s continental championship scheduled for November 7th to 15th, in Senegal.
Sports247 gathered that the latest ‘jollof clash’ between Nigeria and Ghana will come up across two legs, with the first game holding next Saturday at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, following which they will fly out to Accra for the return fixture billed for the following weekend.
The winner in overall results across both legs will pick a ticket to the 2026 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, which Nigeria is already gunning to grace, after missing the last edition that was hosted by Seychelles, following their loss to Mauritania on away goal rule in the qualifiers.
In order to avoid a repeat of that ugly setback, the Super Sand Eagles will this weekend face African champions and next month’s continental hosts, Senegal, in a double-header friendly as part of ongoing preparations for their potentially explosive games versus Ghana.
Both friendly matches are scheduled for Murtala Muhammed Square Beach Soccer Arena in Kaduna this Saturday and on Monday, thereby serving as crucial build-up games ahead of next weekend’s cracker with Ghana’s Black Shark at the same venue.
Sports247 gathered that Nigeria was one of 12 teams exempted from the opening phase of the qualifiers and drew bye into the second-round, in which Côte d’Ivoire will also face Mauritania, Tanzania tango Mozambique, Seychelles tackle Malawi and Burundi meet Uganda.
