Nigeria’s Super Falcons have climbed one spot to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, maintaining their position as the highest-ranked team in Africa.
The new rankings reflect a slight improvement from their previous 37th position recorded in December 2025, following recent international friendly matches.

The nine-time African champions faced Cameroon in two pre-WAFCON friendlies earlier this year, losing the first encounter 1–0 in February before bouncing back with an impressive 3–1 victory in March.
In the second match, Chinwendu Ihezuo equalised in the 32nd minute with a well-taken header from a Rinsola Babajide cross.
Babajide then put Nigeria ahead just before half-time after capitalising on a goalmouth scramble.
Michelle Alozie sealed the win in the 64th minute, heading home from a precise delivery by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
The victory contributed to Nigeria’s current tally of 1602 points in the April rankings, although still slightly below the 1607 points recorded in December.
Despite the minor drop in points, the Super Falcons continue to lead the continent, ahead of South Africa, Ghana, and Morocco, who are ranked 58th, 59th, and 62nd globally, respectively.
On the global stage, Spain remain the top-ranked team, followed by the United States, England, Germany, and Japan.
The latest ranking serves as a positive indicator for the Super Falcons as they prepare for upcoming international competitions, including the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they will aim to reinforce their dominance on the continent.
